A Large Antique Root Bowl, “Trøys”, Scandinavia 1800s

A unique and large root bowl from Norway, Scandinavia.
In Norwegian called “Trøys” A trøys is a vessel used for transporting liquid. It is usually shaped like a bowl with a spout on one side; many also have a small handle on the opposite side of the spout. Some trøys were also made with a pouring lip. The “Trøys” were primarily used to carry and pour beer into smaller drinking vessels such as beer bowls and others.
